The tone of the new millennium revival of the 90210 series is reflected in the very earnest 2009 soundtrack to the series. Jet attempt a little bit of irony in their track, "One Hipster One Bullit," with the rest of the featured artists -- with the possible exception of the ultra-cool duo of N.E.R.D. and Santigold -- mining some kind of vein of sincerity, ranging from the Raconteurs' very serious thank-you revision of "Many Shades of Black" with Adele on vocals, to Sarah Solovay's girly "Hearts Collide." There's a lot of room between those two extremes, from OK Go's diluted take on Spoon's "Turn My Camera On," to Stars Crashing Cars' spin on Foo Fighters -- all perfectly good stylish wallpaper for a TV soap that needs to be a little bit trashier than it is. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
